Fashion photography of the 1930s, 1940s, 1950s

These beautiful black and white fashion photos were taken by the New York fashion photographer Toni Frissell (1907-88). She not only photographed fashion models but women from all walks of life. She photographer great personalities of her time, worked with the Red Cross during WWII, becoming the official photographer for the Women's Army Corps. She worked for Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Sports Illustrated, Life.

  5. Beautiful photographs! I saw an Anthropologie catalog shoot awhile ago where they also shot under water, and it was lovely. I wonder if this was the influence?

  7. Gorgeous photos! I love vintage clothing and I have some extraordinary dresses and costumes from the 50s. Unfortunately I can't wear them. They are about XS and I'm not ;-( But that gives me the idea of working them into some unusual photos. Much better than keeping them in suitcases. Ha, a project for next year :-) Thank you for the idea!!
